Location: Karate Student Area (#4513)
Description:
Before you stands Gichin Funakoshi, hailed by many as the one of the most important men in the history and founding of Karate Do. Almost every form of karate in existence today can trace its lineage back to this man who introduced the art of Karate to mainstream Japan. He learned many of his skills from several instructors as a boy in Okinawa. He passed these teaching on to many and authored 3 texts that are still used today as teaching guides and reference material. His teachings included not only the art of Karate but the Do, or way of Karate, the philosophy and path of a true Karate Ka (student).
