Living Quarters of Lumber Town Stable (#1762)
Description:
The first thing your eyes rest on when you enter the living quarters is the
fine stove that is used not only for cooking but also for heating in the
cold winter months. A hand hewn log table with benches on either side
is not far from the stove with a rough sideboard for storing the few
cast iron pots and pans as well as pottery from which to eat. At the far
end of the room is a solidly built chair with cowhide upholstery and
another chair, this time a rocker with a beautiful hand made quilt thrown
over the back. The solitary drab little window is framed with a ruffled
blue gingham fabric which gives the room a bit of cheer. Halfway down the
wall across from the table is a doorway with a curtain of the same gingham.
